Updated: July 09,2019

During Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to China, POWERCHINA and Bangladesh Sikder Group signed an EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contract on July 4 in Beijing for a commercial center project that will be located in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Ding Zhengguo, chairman of POWERCHINA-Intl, and Rick Haque Sikder, director of Sikder Group, signed the contract on behalf of both sides.

Located in the northeastern part of Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh, the project is about 6 kilometers from the city center of Dhaka. It covers an area of about 100 acres, including an international convention and exhibition center, a shopping center, office buildings, as well as residential buildings.

After its completion, it will become a landmark building complex in Bangladesh, which will form an efficient and multi-functional urban complex integrating business, offices, residences, hotels, restaurants, conferences, and entertainment facilities.

POWERCHINA is closely following the national Belt and Road Initiative and is committed to serving global energy and infrastructure construction.

At present, POWERCHINA has invested in three projects in Bangladesh, and has 15 projects under construction, with a total contract value of more than $4.6 billion.

As the first large-scale urban construction project of POWERCHINA's in Bangladesh, the project is of special significance. The two sides will jointly promote the project to achieve mutually beneficial results and create a new chapter for China-Bangladesh cooperation.
