North Macedonia PM praises KK Expressway project

Updated: September 11,2019

On Sept 5, North Macedonia Prime Minister Zoran Zaev visited the site area of the Kocani-Krupiste (KK) Expressway, which is being built by Sinohydro Bureau 7 Co, a subsidiary of POWERCHINA.

Financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the project is the first for POWERCHINA in the Northern Macedonia market.

The Prime Minister learned about the construction in detail and expressed satisfaction with the current progress. He then inquired and communicated with the project owners, supervisors, and contractors regarding the difficulty of the construction at the rice paddy area.

He noted that North Macedonia is very confident in the construction performance of POWERCHINA. It is believed that POWERCHINA will complete the project on schedule with high standards.

As part of the A3 Expressway, the project will be linked to the Stip-Krupiste Expressway project, which will be completed next year, and will eventually pass through the entire eastern part of Northern Macedonia, connecting North Macedonia with neighboring Bulgaria.

Once completed, it will not only improve the road traffic environment in the eastern part of the country, but also will be of great significance for the economic development of North Macedonia and Bulgaria.

The Prime Minister called the KK Expressway a "great project" on Facebook. "It will benefit our citizens. After the project is completed, it will facilitate the farmers and rice merchants in the area on the transportation of goods," he said.

In addition, major North Macedonian websites broadcasted video interviews with the Prime Minister on their homepages.
