Located in Bhotekoshi rural municipality, in North-central of Nepal, the project first began operating in 2001, with a total installed capacity of approximately 45 megawatts.

It was the first hydropower station on the uppermost steps of the Bhotekoshi River in Nepal, and is also very close to the border between China and Nepal.

Affected by an earthquake in 2015 and a landslide of cement and rock in July 2016, the power station was severely damaged and lost its power generation capacity.

On Feb 11, 2018, POWERCHINA signed an engineering procurement construction reconstruction contract with the owners.

The construction work mainly included repairing the civil construction of buildings such as dams, spillways, tailpipes, and culverts, as well as the repair of all the metallic structure and electromechanical equipment except power plant units.

It is the 11th project undertaken by POWERCHINA in Nepal. Since it started construction work in February 2018, the project management team has overcome many disadvantages.
