POWERCHINA project appears on Guinean commemorative stamps

Updated: December 04,2019

Guinea Kaleta Hydropower Station, which was built by Sinohydro Bureau 3 Co, a subsidiary of POWERCHINA, has appeared recently on Guinean stamps commemorating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Guinea.

This is another honor for the hydropower station after it was featured as the background image on Guinea's 20,000 franc ($2) banknote and won the 2019 Luban Prize (Overseas Projects).

Guinea was the first sub-Saharan African country to establish diplomatic relations with China. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 60 years ago, the two sides have always been friendly and supportive of each other, and have become a model of solidarity and cooperation between China and Africa.

The hydropower station has won Guinean national awards many times, which not only shows the country's eager desire for energy and development, but also shows its full recognition of China's strength in constructing major projects.

In addition, as a successful example of energy projects on the African continent, the hydropower station has set a model and reference point for development in other African countries.

In recent years, the international business volume of Sinohydro Bureau 3 Co has continued to increase. The total amount of external engineering contracts and the value of individual contracts have repeatedly hit record highs.

With Guinea an important market area for realizing the company's 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) for development and international business layout, POWERCHINA has formed a West African project group centered on Souapiti hydropower plant to promote high-quality development of international business in the West Africa.
