The project is located in the urban area of Baghdad, capital of Iraq, on the banks of the Tigris River, about 20 kilometers from Baghdad International Airport.

The project is a 4 × 160MW oil-fired unit. Two of the units are having a major overhaul, while the other two units are undergoing technical renovations.

After the project is completed, power shortages in the urban area of Baghdad will be greatly eased.
