POWERCHINA builds world's largest oil-fired power plant in Saudi Arabia

The Yanbu Phase III Project in Saudi Arabia, undertaken by the SEPCO III Electric Power Construction Corporation, subordinating to POWERCHINA, the world's largest oil-fired power plant under construction, successfully synchronized on Feb 2 local time.

Unit No 5 of the Yanbu Phase III Project's 5 x 660 MW oil-fired power plant project in Saudi Arabia was successfully synchronized, which once again demonstrated the excellent project execution ability of Chinese enterprises, and further enhanced the company's international influence.

The project is an important energy project on the west coast of Saudi Arabia. In order to ensure the successful completion of the project, SEPCO III listed the Yanbu Phase III Project as the company's key project, and started it only one month after the contract was signed. Within just half a year, the number of workers involved reached more than 8,000.

By taking practical actions, SEPCO III has completed seemingly impossible tasks and further established a good image of Chinese enterprises in the world. The minister of environment, agriculture and water resources of Saudi Arabia visited the project three times and witnessed the successful water supply of the unit No 1.

In order to ensure the efficient implementation of the project, the company improved the project management system, based on its years of overseas project operation experience as well as the situation on the ground, and introduced experienced foreign managers to build an international professional project team.

The project management developed the "top 100 talents" training plan, strengthened the cultivation of international standards, professional knowledge and language ability, realized the mutual promotion of project execution and nationalized project team training.

During the implementation of the project, the company fulfilled its social responsibilities and also fulfilled its responsibility as a State-owned enterprise, creating more than 20,000 job opportunities for countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, and effectively promoting social employment and development.

Additionally, the company actively carries out charity donations and community activities to promote the friendship between the Chinese and Saudi people, and to create a good environment for the implementation of the project.
