Updated: February 24,2020

The Dalong No 1 tunnel of the China-Laos Railway built by Sinohydro Bureau 3 Co, a subsidiary of POWERCHINA, completed drilling of the main shaft on Feb 22.

This marked completion of another major and difficult high-risk milestone project by the company, which at the same time carefully carried out novel coronavirus epidemic prevention and control measures.

The total length of the tunnel is more than 6,400 meters.

Aiming to make progress in its key projects, the company's project department made overall preparations before the Spring Festival, so that during the event more than 1,200 employees held their posts.

While doing a good job in epidemic prevention and control, the project department also made every effort to ensure that technology, equipment and materials met site requirements.

Officials said that in the wake of the outbreak, the department immediately established an epidemic prevention and control group and organized the purchase of masks, disinfectants, medical alcohol and distributed them to every employee.

In addition, it arranged for special personnel to implement daily disinfections of residential buildings, offices and other public places.

The project department also especially prepared quarantine dormitories for employees who returned to China from vacation during the Spring Festival, fully ensuring the health of more than 1,000 employees.
