A 220-kilovolt power transmission line for the Kipeto power transmission and transformation wind power project in Kenya in East Africa recently completed construction.
The project was undertaken by Sinohydro Bureau 1 Co, a subsidiary of POWERCHINA.
With a total length of 17.2 kilometers, the project's transmission lines involve different voltage levels and cross over local farmland, cottages, fences, and highways.

The new transmission line passes over areas mostly at an average elevation of more than 3,000 meters.
The POWERCHINA spokesman said that the scarcity of vegetation in the areas over which the new line passes, coupled with the one-month rainy season, resulted in serious challenges to its construction efficiency and schedule.
In order to ensure that the project was completed safely and to a high quality, POWERCHINA set up a special team to coordinate and solve the adverse impact factors, such as intersections with other transmission lines and multiple roads.
During the construction process, the project team further refined its goals for safe construction and environmental protection to ensure green construction, as well as to reduce the impact of dust and noise on surrounding residents, animals and plants.
The end result is a key project that benefits the African people and promotes the development of clean energy in Africa.
In future, it will transport power to Kenya's neighbor Tanzania to help promote the development of the African economy, the spokesman added.
It is seen as being of great significance for the company to explore and establish a major presence in the new energy market in Africa.
