Barishal heavy-duty wharf in Bangladesh passed inspections on July 18 and received its first ship on July 25. POWERCHINA Harbor Co was responsible for the docking facility's construction and temporary handover of the wharf has been completed.
The development will play a crucial role in the unloading of materials and equipment for nearby power stations.

The Barishal heavy-duty wharf is a high-pile structure with a designed berth of 3,000 metric tons and is composed of a wharf platform, an approach bridge and two mooring dolphins.
Initial construction on the wharf's steel pipe pile foundation started on Dec 27, 2019, and – after 117 days – the dock's main structure was completed on April 24, 2020.
During construction, the project department overcame a number of difficulties, including high temperatures and extreme weather, as well as material shortages as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, developers had to tackle the difficult task of pouring of large volumes of concrete over long periods of time.
