The No 2 power unit of the three hydropower stations renovation project in Uzbekistan was connected to the grid for power generation and started commercial operations on Aug 3.
POWERCHINA and POWERCHINA STECOL Corporation did construction on the power plant, and it is one of the small hydropower upgrade projects in Uzbekistan in recent years.

As an engineering procurement construction (EPC) job, the project includes the renovation and upgrading of three hydropower stations in Uzbekistan.
The No 2 power unit is in Uzbekistan's Andiyan region. It was initially completed and put into use in 1966 as part of the second phase of the Shakhrikhan cascade power station.
After the recent renovation, the installed capacity of the hydropower station reached 7.05 megawatts.
While transforming the mechanical and electrical equipment in the hydropower station, the project also carried out an overall transformation of the 110-kilovolt substation.
The overhauled power unit will significantly alleviate the power supply pressure in the surrounding areas. The substations will operate synchronously after commercial operations begin, increasing the capacity and stability of the regional power grid.
POWERCHINA STECOL Corporation and POWERCHINA's Eurasia regional headquarters organized several cloud video conferences to inspect the on-site epidemic prevention and control measures and safety management during the construction process. The companies also used video calls to put forward constructive feedback to ensure the project's quality.
