On August 27, the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) reported on the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic prevention and control efforts, as well as the production situation of POWERCHINA's Zambia Kafue Gorge Lower Hydropower Project on its prime time news program.
The report showed that the Kafue Gorge Lower Hydropower Project has implemented strict measures in accordance with the relevant COVID-19 prevention and control requirements of the Zambia government to ensure the health and safety of workers, including factory gate management, body temperature measurement, residential quarters' disinfection, and on-site construction.
The report further noted that in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic, governments at all levels in Zambia have received full support from POWERCHINA.
The report focused on the role that POWERCHINA has played in the fight the COVID-19 epidemic in partnership with the Zambian government, as well as in helping people overcome difficulties caused by the epidemic.
In addition, in order to express the determination and confidence of the China-Africa community in fighting the epidemic together, the local employees of the project also co-wrote an anti-epidemic song, which has received extensive attention from local media.
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, the project department has formulated and implemented various epidemic prevention and control measures. It has paid special attention to carrying out epidemic prevention and control publicity and education campaigns, guiding Chinese and Zambian employees to learn and utilize information regarding epidemic prevention and control measures.
In addition to routine measures like body temperature measurement and regular disinfection of living and work areas, in order to further protect the daily lives and work of local employees, the project department has also provided local employees with epidemic allowances, as well as distributed holiday and birthday gifts. Moreover, regular distribution of epidemic prevention and living materials to local employees has been conducted.
In addition, the project department also provides basketball, billiards, and other activities to encourage employees to engage in sports activities while maintaining safe social distancing measures. Newspapers and audio equipment have been provided to help local employees keep informed about COVID-19 epidemic information and the current affairs in Zambia.
