The Don Sahong Hydropower Project in Laos -- operated and maintained by Sinohydro Bureau 10 Co, a subsidiary of POWERCHINA -- recently generated power of 1.6 billion kilowatt hours.
Located in Champasak province in southern Laos, the hydroelectric power station has a total installed capacity of 260 megawatts, with four individual 65 MW units.
Since coming onstream in November 2019, most of the power has been exported to neighboring countries such as Cambodia and Thailand, continuously generating foreign exchange income for the government of Laos.
In the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak earlier this year, the operation and maintenance project department of the power station closely monitored equipment operating conditions, while ensuring prevention and control measures were followed.
The safety protocols established a good environment for the facility to achieve the annual power generation target.
The power station has played an important role in promoting local economic upgrades and the development of industrialization, improving local people's lives and increasing employment.
