Angola's largest water treatment plant breaks ground on Jan 8.

It is part of the fifth water supply system in Luanda. On completion, it will mainly provide water supply services for the eastern region of the capital.

With a total service area of 60,815 hectares, it will supply a population exceeding 3 million, accounting for about one third of the entire population of Luanda.

The Angolan government hopes that the project will be completed as soon as possible to meet the urgent needs of the local people for healthy drinking water.

During the construction period, the project will provide more than 1,000 local jobs. It is a key livelihood project in Angola and has attracted the attention of the Angola president and the Angolan Ministry of Energy and Water.

Since POWERCHINA entered the Angolan market in 2004, it has signed more than 300 project agreements in the country – involving roads, buildings, stadiums, hospitals, hydropower and other fields – which has effectively promoted the rapid development of the local economy and society.
