POWERCHINA signs Fiji water supply pipeline contract

POWERCHINA and the Water Authority of Fiji signed a contract for the design and construction of the Fiji DN900 water supply pipeline on Jan 27.

The signing ceremony was held at the site of the Rewa River Water Supply Project in Fiji, which is also being built by POWERCHINA.

At the signing ceremony, Filipe Tuisawau, Fiji Minister of Public Works, Transport and Meteorological Services, lauded POWERCHINA's performance capabilities, and said that the Rewa River Water Supply Project is a key initiative to improve the quality of life of locals.

The minister added that it is hoped that POWERCHINA will give full play to its expertise and experience to ensure the project on schedule and will benefit local residents as soon as possible.

For its part, POWERCHINA said it will actively organize and complete the Rewa River Water Supply Project on time to help Fiji's economic development.

In April 2019, POWERCHINA and the Water Authority of Fiji signed a contract for the Rewa River Water Supply Project. The project is expected to be completed in May 2023.

It is expected that on completion, it will greatly improve the domestic water supply of about 273,000 people, and the reliability of the urban water supply will be greatly improved.
