POWERCHINA signs 2 projects in Colombia

Updated: February 02,2023

POWERCHINA recently signed two major projects in Colombia in 2023.

One was signed the contract to upgrade and renovate a waterworks plant on Jan 26; the other was the Tepuy Photovoltaic (PV) Power Station on Jan 31.

The waterworks plant is located in Bogota, capital of Colombia. It is the second water project undertaken by POWERCHINA in the Colombian market.

On completion, the treatment capacity of the water plant will increase from 14 cubic meters per second to 21 cu m per second, providing high-quality domestic water for about 10 million people in Bogota, which is accounting for 70 percent of the capital's total domestic water supply.

The EPC contract for the 107 MW Tepuy PV Power Station project was signed with Medellin Electric Power Company, Colombia's largest power utility.

The PV power station is located in Antioquia, about 20 kilometers away from the provincial capital city of Medellin.

The main work will include design, supply, construction, installation and commissioning of the PV power station.

This is the first project cooperated by POWERCHINA and the Medellin Electric Power Company. It is seen as being of great significance in paving the way for more projects with the power utility involving green energy fields.

To date, POWERCHINA has signed up to undertake more than 320 MW of PV power projects in Colombia and has seven of them currently under construction.

Overall, POWERCHINA will give full play to its own experience and knowhow, actively participate in the green energy and water fields in Colombia, and help with the development of local projects that benefit the lives of residents.
