The completed Nam Ou River Cascade Hydropower Plant in Laos, which is funded, built and operated by POWERCHINA, recently received a special group of new employees.
This is the first batch of nine graduates from Laos to be employed at the plant in the "Chinese workshop" program.
Nine employees join the operationand maintenance department of the Nam Ou River Cascade Hydropower Plant.
In June last year, the operation and maintenance department of the plant liaised with Souphanouvong University of Laos and the Confucius Institute to carry out the "Chinese workshop" program, and signed an agreement on training high-skilled local people.
The Nam Ou River plant includes seven cascade hydroelectric power stations on the waterway.
At the opening ceremony for the intensive induction and training, new and old local employees introduced themselves, and expressed their expectations and ideas.
The new employees said they will seek to constantly improve and give full play to their strengths, to contribute to the operation and maintenance of the plant.
The operation and maintenance department has issued a detailed training plan. This will enable new employees to familiarize themselves quickly with the working principles, basic structure and functions of each system of the power station and improve their skills.
The plant has played an important role in the supply of electricity and energy in northern Laos and in the promotion of people's livelihoods.
What's more, the power stations are becoming a communication window for local electric energy technology, water resource management, personnel training, social welfare and other areas.
Plans are for POWERCHINA to train more technical and management personnel from the local area, and promote the localization and sustainable development of Laos' electric power industry.
