US-based news and news release distributor PR Newswire recently published an article quoting an interview given by Alberto Fernandez, president of Argentina.
"POWERCHINA is one of the most recognized Chinese companies in Argentina, and the Argentine government will continue to strongly support POWERCHINA to promote key projects related to natural gas pipelines, wind energy and solar energy," the president said.
In another interview with China Media Group published on Jan 25, last year, Fernandez spoke highly of the friendship between China and Argentina that stretched back more than half a century and mentioned that Chinese companies like POWERCHINA have already developed very important solar parks in Argentina.
The solar power project mentioned by the president refers to the 315 MW Cauchari Solar Park constructed by POWERCHINA.

The project is located on the Puna Plateau in Northwest Argentina, with an average altitude of more than 4,000 meters. It is rated as being one of the most suitable areas in the world for solar energy projects.
By the end of February 2023, the solar park had generated a total of 1.74 million megawatt hours of power, which is said to have greatly eased local electricity shortages and contributed revenue to the local government.
"Now, the roads around the park are open, schools and hospitals have been built and the lives of the villagers are improving day by day," said one of the park's engineers.
"More and more tourists come here to experience the Inca culture and the local tourism and handicraft industries have been developed," he added.

The Helios Wind Power Project, another new energy project constructed by POWERCHINA, has also been widely recognized and praised by the local government and residents.
In September 2022, the president visited the El Tambolar Hydropower Project constructed by POWERCHINA and a local company, and praised the quality and the benefits of the project.
Since the establishment of an office in Argentina in 2011, POWERCHINA has signed up 23 projects in eight provinces in the country, creating more than 100 direct jobs and more than 15,000 indirect jobs.
To date, POWERCHINA has built a total of 12 new energy projects with a total installed capacity exceeding 1 GW, making it the biggest new energy contractor in Argentina.
