The Gribo-Popoli Hydropower Plant, the largest hydropower station under construction in Cote d'Ivoire, being built by POWERCHINA, marked a major milestone on March 9, when the overflow spillway was completed 100 days ahead of schedule.

That was followed on March 14 by another milestone, the flow closure of the cofferdam, also 100 days ahead of schedule.

These developments have laid a solid foundation for realizing power generation by the first unit of the station.

The station is located on the Sassandra River in the Soubre province of Cote d'Ivoire. It will have a total installed capacity of 112.9 MW and a total storage capacity of 82 million cubic meters of water. The main construction of the project includes earth-rock dams, spillways and power plants.

Plans are for the first unit to start operating at the end of 2023. It is expected that this will alleviate the power shortages in Cote d'Ivoire and further promote economic integration and economic prosperity in West Africa.

Since entering the Cote d'Ivoire market in 2009, POWERCHINA has been both a builder of engineering projects and a promoter of social and economic development.
