At the ceremony, the vice president unveiled for the project and delivered a speech. He said that, since the implementation of the project, the Nigerian government had made significant progress in restoring the existing irrigation system and developing additional areas, expanding the irrigated area of about 50,000 hectares.
As an essential part of the agricultural development of Kano State in Nigeria, the Kano irrigation project is of milestone significance and a major livelihood project that benefits the local people, Osinbajo added.
The construction endeavor that took place in Kano State, Nigeria, is a remarkable feat that was accomplished with high standards and within the given time frame. Osinbajo expressed his gratitude to POWERCHINA.
The project itself encompassed the maintenance of three dams, the restoration and expansion of 44 canal systems, the construction of 14 water association offices, and a 3-span bridge, with a total irrigated area of 14,444.24 hectares. POWERCHINA was mainly responsible for the overall project.
The local community has greatly benefited from this project, not only through the creation of employment opportunities but also through its contribution to the economic and social development of the area.
