As the largest reverse osmosis seawater desalination project under construction, the Taweelah IWP has a total daily freshwater output of about 900,000 metric tons.
The project introduces technologies and products from more than 10 countries and adopts the world's advanced reverse osmosis membrane seawater desalination technology.
Through the project, every 100,000 cubic meters of seawater can be converted into about 37,500 cu m of fresh water, with a conversion rate of about 37.5 percent, at the world's advanced level.
So far, the two units of the project have achieved chemical oxygen demand (COD), which can meet the water demand of nearly 1 million local households under full load, greatly easing the tension of freshwater resources in the UAE and benefiting the people's livelihoods and local economic and social development.
