POWERCHINA's employees, Nigerian officials and engineers watch the power generation and grid connection test of the Zungeru Hydropower Station.

Zungeru Hydropower Station, built by POWERCHINA, successfully completed the full-load power generation and grid connection test of all four units on May 25, with the units generating over 700MW, meaning the station has entered the final stage before completion.

Throughout the testing process, the equipment systems of the units remained stable, with all test items passing on the first attempt, showcasing the station's reliability, safety and high quality.

The Zungeru Hydropower Station, located on the Kaduna River in Zungeru town, Niger state, consists of four vertical mixed-flow type hydro-generators with an installed capacity of 700MW, making it the largest hydropower station under construction in the country.

It is also an important project of the Belt and Road Initiative in Africa and the largest power station financing project in Nigeria using China Exim Bank's loans.

All four units at the station can generate an average annual power load of 2.64 billion kWh, which can meet the power supply needs of two cities similar in size to Abuja, capital of Nigeria, playing an important role in alleviating the country’s electricity shortage, enhancing the stability and continuous supply of electricity, and improving local life.
