POWERCHINA signs the contract for the Shinyanga Photovoltaic (PV) project in Tanzania.

A signing ceremony for the contract for the Shinyanga Photovoltaic (PV) project between POWERCHINA and Tanzania National Electric Supply Co (TANESCO) was held on May 29, with January Makamba, Minister of Energy, Stephen Byabato, Deputy Minister of Energy, and Maharage Chande, chairman of TANESCO, attending.

The Shinyanga PV project is POWERCHINA's second PV project in Tanzania and the largest PV project in the country. It is of great significance to the diversification of the country's power structure and the development of the local clean energy industry.

The Shinyanga PV project has an installed capacity of 50 MW, and POWERCHINA is responsible for the project's survey and design, equipment procurement and transportation, and installations of PV fields, 220kV transformer substations and transmission lines.

After the project begins operating, the electricity will be connected to the local power grid, which is expected to alleviate power shortages in Northwest Tanzania, improve local quality of life, and promote local economic development.

The company will make full use of its strengths, continue to support the country's energy transition, and contribute to local infrastructure construction and economic and social development.
