The Na Ranong Overpass in Bangkok, Thailand, opens to traffic.
The Na Ranong Overpass in Bangkok, Thailand, built by POWERCHINA, opened to traffic on June 1.
The overpass, located in the center of Bangkok, runs east to west along Rama III Road and Ratchadaphisek Road via the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre and the Metropolitan Electricity Authority headquarters.
The overpass is the first municipal overpass that POWERCHINA has built in Thailand. POWERCHINA is responsible for the construction of a four-lane, two-way overpass and three two-lane auxiliary bridges, with a total length of 1.88 kilometers, a maximum span of 60 meters, and a maximum prefabricated beam span of 42 meters.
In the construction area, five existing highways and three railway tracks posed major challenges to construction safety, personnel organization, and site planning coordination.
Despite difficulties in resource allocation, construction technology, multiple construction techniques, and complex environments, POWERCHINA has successfully opened the road to traffic.
