A groundbreaking ceremony for DCCP Cement and Power Plant, which is being built by POWERCHINA, was held in Iraq on June 22.
Masrour Barzani, prime minister of the Kurdistan region of Iraq, Aras Hussein Mirkhan, chairman of Dabin Group, Ren Ke, chief representative from SINOSURE Dubai Representative Office, Chen Guanfu, exceutive president of POWERCHINA Intl, and other representatives attended the ceremony.
During the ceremony, Barzani praised the contributions of all parties involved in promoting the industrial development of the Kurdistan region and stated that the project will provide approximately 1,000 jobs during its construction and significantly reduce reliance on cement imports once completed.
The cement plant is expected to become one of the most important industrial facilities in the region and play a key role in promoting the reconstruction of Iraq, as well as become a beacon of industrial progress in the Kurdistan region.
Chen Guanfu expressed his gratitude to the regional government, Dabin Group, and SINOSURE for their support in promoting the project.
He said that POWERCHINA will live up to the trust, promote the project with first-class management, ensure high-quality performance, and create a benchmark for Sino-Iraqi cooperation.
POWERCHINA is responsible for the construction of a new 6,000-ton-per-day cement clinker production line and a 52-megawatt heavy fuel oil power plant as a self-contained power source.
The plant will fully utilize the local mineral resources and leverage the advantages of Dabin Group and Chinese investment, construction, and equipment.
The plant will effectively promote Sino-Iraqi capacity cooperation, provide high-quality building materials to the Iraqi market, create employment opportunities, increase residents' incomes, and drive local social and economic development.
