The handover ceremony of the China-Equatorial Guinea Friendship Hospital, built by POWERCHINA, was held in Bata, Equatorial Guinea on July 13.
Senior officials from both countries and representatives from POWERCHINA attended the ceremony.
Mitoha Ondo'o Ayekaba, Minister of Health and Social Welfare of Equatorial Guinea, stated in his speech that the completion of the hospital will greatly improve the medical infrastructure in mainland Equatorial Guinea and enhance the level of public health services.
Chen Yong, Consul General of China in Bata, stated that the handover ceremony marked another achievement in the friendly partnership between China and Equatorial Guinea. It is hoped that the hospital project can be put into operation as soon as possible and benefit local people.
The friendship hospital is another landmark effort by China to provide aid to Equatorial Guinea. On November 30, 2020, Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the hospital.
