The right tunnel of the Farish-Drenovo section of the Gradsko-Prilep Expressway (FD project) in North Macedonia, constructed by POWERCHINA, was successfully completed on July 18.
This milestone was witnessed by Dimitar Kovačevski, prime minister of North Macedonia, and Zhang Zuo, Ambassador of China to North Macedonia.
Dimitar Kovačevski congratulated POWERCHINA on the completion of the right tunnel and thanked all the builders for their hard work. He said that the FD project is an important part of the transport network in North Macedonia and the Balkan region as a whole. It is expected to provide more opportunities for regional economic development and further improve the lives of locals.
Zhang also praised this significant milestone and expressed hope that both parties will make every effort to accelerate progress on the expressway so that it can open to traffic as soon as possible.
The FD project has a total length of 10.197 kilometers, with both two-way single-lane and two-way four-lane roads, and a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour.
The project will effectively improve traffic conditions in the central region of North Macedonia and decrease travel times in important cities such as Kavadarci, Prilep, and Negotino.
Since the project began, POWERCHINA has overcome many obstacles, and solved problems such as poor tunnel geological conditions and small spacing.
