A ceremony marking the establishment of the China-Equatorial Guinea Friendship Hospital took place on Aug 1, with Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and his wife, as well as Consul General of China in Bata City Chen Yong, attending and unveiling the plaque.

Obiang expressed gratitude in his speech for the Chinese government's long-term contribution to the socio-economic development of Equatorial Guinea and said he hopes that the hospital will greatly improve the medical infrastructure in Central Equatorial Guinea and enhance the level of public health services.

The hospital, which is the first medical assistance project provided by China to Equatorial Guinea, is a testament to the strong friendship between the two countries on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

The hospital covers an area of 15,000 square meters, with a total construction area of 5,665 square meters, and is equipped with emergency, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, internal and external general medicine and 124 beds.

It will become the most advanced and well-equipped landmark general hospital in the province, providing diverse medical and health services for residents.

The hospital is expected to further improve the country's medical service capacity, hospital management capacity and basic medical and health service accessibility as well as benefit local people.
