The completion and handover ceremony of the 7th Ring Road Project, constructed by POWERCHINA, was held in Kuwait on Aug 24. Raja' Al Muamen, director-general of the Kuwait Public Authority for Roads & Transportation, and Hu Hanming, economic counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches.
Rajaoffered his congratulationson the completion of the project and praised the outstanding achievements of the project team. He expressed heartfelt appreciation to the employeesfor their hard work.
Hu in his speech also offered his congratulations, and noted that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. Over the past decade, cooperation between China and Kuwait in various fields has yielded fruitful results. The completion of this project is another testament to the friendly cooperation between the two countries.
He also expressed hope that more friendly cooperation projects between China and Kuwait will be carried outin the future, contributing to a "shared, built, and enjoyed" happy and prosperous life.
The Kuwait 7th Ring Road Project, located at the border of the Farwaniyahand Al Jahra Governorates, is a large-scale upgrade and renovation project.
The project mainly includes the upgrade and renovation of the existing Kuwait 7th Ring Road and its associated public facilities, as well as the construction and maintenance of interchange bridges at intersections.
The project has a total length of 21.8 kilometers, and features a dual 10-lane configuration. The project commenced on Dec 22, 2016, and was completed on July 29, 2023 after six years and seven months of hard work.
The new roadis expected tosignificantly improve local traffic efficiency, enhance road safety, and greatly increase the ease ofdaily travel for local residents.
