Laos wind power project achieves crucial milestone

A ceremony marking the successful installation of the first wind turbine generator of the 600MW Monsoon WindPower Project took place in Laos on Nov 9, with Sonexay Siphandone, prime minister of Laos, in attendance.

During the ceremony, following Laotian tradition, Sonexay conducted a ceremonial gong blessing under the first wind turbine generator and delivered a speech.

Offering his congratulations on the significant progress made in the implementation of the project, he pointed out that the Monsoon Wind Power Project is the first of its kind in Laos, and the successful installation of the first wind turbine holds great significance.

He expressed excitement for the timely completion and operation of the project, which is expected to inject strong impetus into the economic development of Laos.

The Monsoon Wind Power Project is the largest of its kind under construction in Southeast Asia. Since its official commencement in March 2023, the project has been closely monitored by the national leaders of Laos, various levels of government, and the broader society.
