POWERCHINA staff members celebrate the completion of dam concrete pouring work for the Batang Toru HEPP Project.

This marked the project's formal transition from excavation work to the main concrete pouring phase, taking a solid step towards the milestone goal of successfully impounding water by July 2025.

The first water-stopping section of the plant's main dam adopts roller-compacted concrete arch gravity dam technology. The dam’s crest is 137.44 meters long, and the maximum dam height is 74 meters, with a total concrete volume of approximately 205,000 cubic meters.

To ensure the timely completion of the pouring work, POWERCHINA successfully overcame challenges such as tight schedules, high technical difficulty tasks, and high temperatures during the tropical rainy season.

Within three months, all participating parties efficiently collaborated, completing the excavation of 230,000 cubic meters of earth.

The Batang Toru HEPP Project is located in the southern part of North Sumatra Province, Indonesia. It is a national strategic project and is the largest hydroelectric project under construction in Indonesia.

During the project's construction period, over 3,000 job opportunities were created for the local community, contributing to local economic development.

Upon completion, the project will utilize clean and renewable hydroelectric power, which will effectively improve the energy structure of Sumatra Island, while also reducing reliance on fossil fuels. It will play a significant role in controlling air pollution and addressing global climate change.
