The project, managed by POWERCHINA, will be executed as an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) project. It includes the construction of a green hydrogen plant with a capacity of 4,000 cubic meters per hour and a 52-megawatt onshore wind farm.
Upon completion, the project will produce 3,000 metric tons of green hydrogen annually, which will be used to manufacture 500,000 tons of ammonia fertilizers.
Meanwhile, it will reduce the use of natural gas in fertilizer production, saving Uzbekistan 33 million cu m of natural gas per year and alleviating pressure on the country's natural gas supply.
This is the first green hydrogen project in Central Asia to enter the formal implementation phase. It is also the first green hydrogen project undertaken by POWERCHINA overseas.
This signifies a new breakthrough in the company's overseas business and further strengthens its brand influence in Central Asia. As a significant energy cooperation project under the Belt and Road Initiative, the project will provide Uzbekistan with a clean and sustainable energy supply, while also contributing to its economic development.
