The 2022-2023 National Quality Engineering Awards Commendation Conference is held on Dec 24.

On Dec 24, 2023, the China Association of Construction Enterprise Management convened the 2022-2023 National Quality Engineering Awards Commendation Conference and the fifth meeting of the eighth council at the Beijing International Convention Center. The "2023 Engineering Construction Science and Technology Awards" were announced at the event.

POWERCHINA clinched a total of 33 awards, including one special prize, five first prizes, and 26 second prizes for scientific and technological progress, and one second prize for technological invention. Xu Pengcheng, vice president of POWERCHINA and vice chairman of the China Association of Construction Enterprise Management, was in attendance.

The China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute, spearheading the "Integrated Digital Key Technology Research and Application for Hydropower Engineering Design and Construction", secured the Special Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress. The project introduced groundbreaking IFC information standard model data conversion technology for hydropower engineering, addressing the void in digital engineering technology standards. It developed an all-encompassing digital construction management platform and an intelligent construction system for the entire project, process, and elements, elevating the digitization and intelligence of EPC large conventional hydropower and pumped storage projects and driving technological advancements in the industry. The technology is now at the global cutting-edge.

"Key Technological Research and Application of Ecological Restoration in Waterside Areas Based on Ecological Perceptions", secured the First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress. Catering to the requirements of water ecosystem regulation and restoration and enhancement of ecosystem service quality in waterside areas in China, the project has introduced an innovative approach to ecological restoration and devised a key technology system for ecological restoration, monitoring, and evaluation based on ecological perceptions. The system has been applied in several regions in Yunnan and Guangdong.

"Key Technology and Engineering Application for Large Hydropower Engineering Surveys in Ultra-High Altitude and Complex Environments", secured the First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress. With support from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Key R&D Program of China, the project addressed challenges in engineering surveying in areas that are very cold, at a high-altitude, have high seismic intensity, have high mountain gorges, and have high vegetation coverage. It is capable of intelligent and digital geological information management, analysis and application, has been applied in over ten hydropower projects in the Qinghai-Tibet region.

"Key Technologies for TBM Construction in Deep Buried and Complex Geological Ultra-Long Tunnels", secured the First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress. The project was applied in the ABH water diversion project in Xinjiang, setting a world record for the deepest, most complex geological conditions, no maintenance chamber, longest blind heading, and overall highest comprehensive difficulty.

"Key Technologies for Construction of Loose Accumulated Dam Body", secured the First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress. It established a construction technology system for "unordered loose accumulated dam bodies", forming key technologies for construction.

"Jinsha River Liyuan Hydropower Station Project", secured the First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress. The Jinsha River Liyuan Hydropower Station boasts a total installed capacity of 2,400 megawatts, a total storage capacity of 805 million cubic meters, and a maximum concrete face rockfill dam height of 155 meters. It is the first locally sourced material dam built on the Jinsha River and the tallest concrete face rockfill dam in Yunnan province. The project was also honored with the 2022-2023 National Quality Engineering Award.

"Research and Application of Self-Propelled Trackless Operation Platform Vehicle for Subway Tunnel", secured the Second Prize for Technological Invention and has been applied in domestic rail transit tunnel post-maintenance projects.

The Engineering Construction Science and Technology Awards area distinguished national accolade established by the China Association of Construction Enterprise Management, approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Office for Science & Technology Awards of the People's Republic of China. It aims to enhance the independent innovation capabilities of the engineering construction industry. The Awards recognizes individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to scientific and technological progress in engineering construction activities.
