Unit 9 of the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Plant, located in Tanzania, was recently successfully connected to the grid and is now in operation.

The Julius Nyerere Hydropower Plant consists of nine units that have a total installed capacity of 2,115 megawatts. POWERCHINA installed seven of the plant's units. The company also provided technical guidance for the installation of the other two units, as well as conducted unit commissioning work.

This hydropower plant features hydroelectric equipment that was manufactured in China and then exported to the project site.

This major project was prioritized for development in Tanzania, and is a key project that influences the country's power production and stable supply. Upon completion, the project will significantly improve the local electricity supply and effectively promote the region’s economic and social development.
