Colombian president witnesses completion of solar park

The completion ceremony for the 23-megawatt solar park, built by POWERCHINA in Colombia, was held on April 12. Gustavo Petro, the Colombian president, attended the completion ceremony.

Participants also included Andres Camacho Morales, the minister of the Colombia Ministry of Mines and Energy, Ricardo Roa Barragan, the president of Ecopetrol, and Zhang Guolai, the president of POWERCHINA Americas.

During the ceremony, Pedro said that the success of the solar park is a significant achievement, demonstrating tremendous potential for renewable energy generation in Colombia. He thanked POWERCHINA, a leading global contractor in new energy and power, for bringing advanced Chinese technology and high-quality equipment to Colombia and actively supporting Colombia's energy transition efforts.

Ricardo stated that the solar park is the first of its kind located within a refinery area in Latin America. He congratulated POWERCHINA and Ecopetrol on their achievements and thanked construction workers for their hard work.

The solar park has a total installed capacity of 23MW and, upon completion it will supply 34.29 gigawatt-hours of clean energy annually to the Cartagena Refinery. During construction, the project created over 400 jobs and employed more than 180 women, helping address local employment issues and increasing employment opportunities among women.
