A grand handover ceremony was held for the China-aided public school restoration project in Dolakha District, constructed by POWERCHINA, on May 16 in Nepal.
The ceremony was attended by Xie Yu, commercial counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal; Anna Prasad Neupane, representative of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of Nepal; and other representatives from the two sides. Local teachers and students also participated in the ceremony.
During the ceremony, Anna expressed heartfelt gratitude for China's assistance. He stated that the selfless aid from the Chinese government has had a profound impact on Nepal's education sector. The completion of the school restoration project in Dolakha will promote the development of local education and help to nurture students committed to advancing Nepal's socio-economic development.
In his speech, Xie noted that the Dolakha school project, a key post-disaster reconstruction initiative supported by China, exemplifies the fruitful outcomes of educational cooperation between the two countries.
During the ceremony, POWERCHINA, in collaboration with the China Foundation for Rural Development and Yunnan Energy Investment Co, donated bookshelves and books to the two schools and also distributed backpacks to the students.
The public schools in Dolakha were damaged in the earthquake of 2015. Following the aid agreement signed by the governments of China and Nepal, POWERCHINA undertook the demolition and reconstruction of the schools.
