To the roar of 16 pumps, the King Salman International Complex Project in Saudi Arabia reached an important milestone – the official commencement of flooding for the No 2 dry dock in Section P4 on June 4.

The dry dock is the deepest in the complex and the first to be flooded. This critical milestone lays a solid foundation for the subsequent installation of the gate for the dock.

The design and construction process of the No 2 dry dock posed many challenges. The dock measures 373 meters in length and 90 meters in width, covering an area equivalent to four and a half football fields, and is designed to accommodate giant vessels up to 100,000 metric tons.

The commencement of flooding for the No 2 dry dock marks a significant breakthrough in the construction of Section P4 of the project and fully demonstrates the excellent construction capabilities and efficient management of POWERCHINA, which have earned it high recognition and trust from the project owner, Aramco, and the operator, International Maritime Industries (IMI).
