The Jember International Airport project in Indonesia, constructed by POWERCHINA, was recently awarded the Certificate of Completion for foundation treatment and retaining wall works issued by the airport owner. This means that the project has officially passed the defect liability period.

Jember International Airport is located in the Jember region of East Java, Indonesia, just 120 kilometers from Surabaya, the second-largest city in Indonesia. The completion of the international airport will help alleviate traffic congestion in Surabaya and significantly enhance transportation convenience in surrounding areas.

The airport's runway is 3,300 meters long and 45 m wide, with a large capacity of accommodating wide-body aircraft such as the Boeing 777 and Airbus A330.

During construction, POWERCHINA was responsible for the design and construction of the foundation treatment for the airport runway and retaining walls. This included treating 202,700 square meters of runway foundation with a total of 41,413 piles, reaching a total length of 400,000 m. The retaining wall foundation treatment covered an area of 32,500 sq m, with a total of 9,890 piles, reaching a total length of 150,700 m.

In addition, several key Indonesian employees have been trained, and a total of 430 jobs were created for the local community.

Jember International Airport has now officially commenced operations, with an initial annual throughput of 1.5 million passengers. This has established an "air corridor" for local residents and injected new momentum into the region’s economic development.
