POWERCHINA officially signed the EPC contract for the Al Ajban Solar PV Plant Independent Power Project in Abu Dhabi, the UAE, with EDF Renewables Co and Korea Western Power Co on July 2.

The project is located in the Al Ajban area of Abu Dhabi, UAE, approximately 88 kilometers northeast of downtown Abu Dhabi, bordering Dubai.

The project's total installed capacity on the direct current side is about 1.8 gigawatts. The main scope of work includes the design, construction, procurement, installation, commissioning, and trial operation of the photovoltaic power plant and the 400-kilovolt booster station, as well as operation and maintenance during a 24-month warranty period.

The project is a key initiative by the UAE government to implement the "UAE 2050 Energy Strategy" and will provide zero-emission clean power to the UAE, marking a new highlight in the UAE's green economic and social development. It also stands as the largest overseas photovoltaic EPC project by installed capacity to be built by POWERCHINA.
