Abdulla Aripov, prime minister of Uzbekistan, led a delegation to visit the Zarafshan Wind Power Project, undertaken by POWERCHINA, on July 4. The visit was accompanied by officials from Navoi Province and the city of Zarafshan, as well as representatives from the project owner Masdar and the on-site management team.

During the visit, Aripov toured various areas and facilities, including the booster station, central control room, wind farm, and IDF. He inquired in detail about the progress of the project in terms of heavy equipment transportation, turbine grid connection acceptance and more, urging government departments to proactively coordinate and provide support and services.

Upon seeing the already operational wind turbines, he expressed genuine joy and amazement. He remarked that this was his third visit to the project site, from the lifting of the first turbine to the grid connection of the first turbine, and now to the large-scale operation of the wind farm. Each visit left a deep impression on him. He expressed hope that POWERCHINA would continue moving forward, ensuring this project becomes the first megawatt-level wind power project in Uzbekistan to achieve full-capacity grid connection.

The 500 MW Zarafshan Wind Power Project is the country's first large-scale wind power project. It will be the largest operational wind power project in Central Asia, providing sufficient electricity for 500,000 households and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 1.1 million metric tons annually. It will also contribute to Uzbekistan's energy transition and sustainable economic development goals.
