The Sirajganj Solar Power Plant stretches under the blue sky.
The full-capacity grid connection of the Sirajganj Solar Power Plant in Bangladesh, with POWERCHINA as the general contractor, was recently successfully completed and approved by the Bangladesh Power Development Board.
Located on the floodplain of the Sirajganj River, the power plant features a DC-side installed capacity of approximately 90 megawatts and an AC-side inverter capacity of 75 MW. A new 132-kilovolt solar booster station was also built, with two 132 kV lines connecting to the existing Sirajganj grid substation.
The project utilizes a unique skid-mounted photovoltaic installation tool, allowing for the installation of photovoltaic modules at a height of 12 meters as easily as on flat ground. This height is currently the highest for photovoltaic modules in Bangladesh. It is also the largest-capacity solar power project currently under construction in Bangladesh.
The plant will generate approximately 110 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually, equivalent to saving 43,000 metric tons of standard coal and significantly reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 110,000 tons. This will further enhance the utilization of clean energy locally and promote local employment and economic development.
