Employees working on the project celebrate the successful installation of the six units.
POWERCHINA successfully completed the lifting and installation of the second batch of four generator units at the heavy oil power plant at the Iraq Cement Plant on Aug 8. With this, all six units of the heavy oil power plant have now been fully installed.
The cement plant features a new cement production line with a daily output of 6,000 metric tons of clinker, along with a 52-megawatt heavy oil power plant. The core equipment of the power plant consists of six heavy oil generator units, each measuring 12.7 meters by 5 m by 3.1 m and weighing nearly 158 tons.
During the lifting of the four units, POWERCHINA adopted a sectional lifting and sequential installation strategy. Ultimately, through the efforts and dedication of all involved, the team successfully completed the lifting of all four units within seven hours, working both efficiently and to a high quality.
The successful installation of these generator units lays a solid foundation for achieving the goal of ignition and power generation at the end of the year .
The cement plant is expected to supply high-quality cement materials to the local market, effectively addressing the cement shortage in the central region of Iraq. This will inject new vitality into the development of Iraq's building materials industry.
Additionally, the construction phase is expected to create over 800 local jobs, contributing to local employment and supporting Iraq's economic and social development, while also improving livelihoods.
