The Nam Ou 5 Hydropower Station in Laos has generated over 200 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, with its total output surpassing 4.8 billion kWh since its commissioning. This achievement marks a key milestone in Laos' progress toward clean energy development.

As the first Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) hydropower project built by POWERCHINA in Laos, Nam Ou 5 is located on the Nam Ting River, approximately 300 kilometers north of the capital, Vientiane. With a total installed capacity of 120 megawatts, the station plays a vital role in the region's power generation.

The station is experiencing its peak flood season, with increased rainfall and frequent extreme weather events. Despite these challenges, the entire Nam Ou 5 team remains vigilant, strengthening flood control measures and maintaining a high level of readiness.

POWERCHINA has developed a comprehensive emergency response plan, enabling quick action in any unforeseen situation. As a result, the dam has been operating steadily at high water levels, with power units running efficiently, ensuring a stable electricity supply for the surrounding area.

Nam Ou 5 Hydropower Station adheres to a green and low-carbon development philosophy, continuously delivering clean, efficient, and reliable green energy to the Laos' power grid. It plays a positive role in optimizing the regional energy structure and promoting sustainable economic development.
