Recently, the 2024 China Electric Power Quality Engineering Award evaluation results were announced, with the Cambodia Sihanoukville 2 × 350 Megawatts Coal-fired Power Plant project, constructed by POWERCHINA, winning the prestigious award.

The China Electric Power Quality Engineering Award is the top honor for engineering quality in China's electric power construction industry and is held annually. Organized by the China Electric Power Construction Association, this award recognizes projects that align with the country's energy development goals and represent the highest quality standards among similar projects.

The project, located about 15 kilometers northeast of Sihanoukville City, is Cambodia's largest planned and existing power source regarding unit and total installed capacity, accounting for approximately 27 percent of the national grid's load.

The project fully adopted Chinese standards, technologies, and equipment, with two 350 MW generators.

In addition, in November 2023, the project won the First Prize for Excellent Welding Engineering, China's highest honor in construction welding quality, for its innovation and efficiency in welding materials and techniques.
