The 108-megawatt Tepuy Photovoltaic (PV) Plant Project in Colombia, constructed by POWERCHINA, was officially handed over on October 10th and received a temporary acceptance certificate from the owners.

The project has a DC capacity of 108 MW and encompasses design, supply (excluding components), civil construction, equipment installation, and commissioning of the photovoltaic field.

Construction began on March 6, 2023, with the first circuit connected to the grid on Feb 21, 2024. Full capacity grid connection was achieved on March 22, and commercial operation commenced on June 12. The full-capacity grid connection and commercial operation took 12 and 15 months, respectively, setting local records.

The project created over 2,000 local jobs and is expected to provide approximately 224 gigawatt-hours of green energy annually. This is equivalent to saving 74,000 metric tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 198,000 tons annually, delivering significant economic, environmental, and social benefits.

It took 19 months from the start of construction to pass temporary acceptance. POWERCHINA completed the project with high quality and without any safety or quality incidents during the implementation period, which earned high praise from the owner, Empresas Publicas de Medellin, and local government and community stakeholders.
