The Hercegovina Bridge in Bosnia and Herzegovina (formerly known as the Pocitelj Bridge), constructed by POWERCHINA, received the project completion and handover certificate on Sept 19. Although the bridge was completed on Aug 7, this handover signifies its official completion and the beginning of the warranty period.

The bridge, located between Mostar and Capljina, spans approximately 1 kilometer and has a four-lane curved alignment. It is a prestressed concrete structure constructed using a balanced cantilever method with a box-section design. Six piers support it, the tallest of which is 97 meters high.

The project began on Sept 26, 2019, and the bridge officially opened to traffic on Sept 5, 2024. As one of the most complex infrastructure projects along the pan-European Corridor Vc highway, the bridge will connect Bosnia and Herzegovina to the European Union. It will serve as a key link to Croatia and inject new vitality into regional development.

The bridge is POWERCHINA's first project in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since construction started, POWERCHINA has overcome various challenges. They ensured the project was completed safely and on schedule despite geological changes, concurrent construction activities, adverse weather conditions, and rising water levels in the Neretva River.

The successful handover of the Herzegovina Bridge project has earned POWERCHINA a solid reputation in Bosnia and Herzegovina's highway construction market.
