The Lurio Bridge project in Mozambique, constructed by POWERCHINA, was officially opened to traffic on Sept 18. Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, President of Mozambique, attended the inauguration ceremony and cut the ribbon.

He remarked that the bridge's completion marks the end of decades of geographical isolation between Niassa Province and Nampula Province. It represents a significant milestone in Mozambique's national integration and another major achievement of the Mozambican government's commitment to national infrastructure development.

The Lurio Bridge spans 307 meters, connecting Niassa and Nampula provinces. It comprises 10 spans and 22 bored piles, with a total deck width of 9.5 m, featuring a single lane for two-way traffic, pedestrian walkways, and safety barriers. The bridge has reduced travel time between Niassa and Nampula from 10 hours to less than two hours, shortening the distance by approximately 100 kilometers and greatly improving transport efficiency. It also provides residents more opportunities for interaction and product transportation along the route, further promoting regional economic prosperity.
