On Oct 24, the acceptance committee, which included representatives from Cameroon's Electricity Development Corporation (EDC), French engineering company Tractebel, and POWERCHINA, signed the final acceptance memorandum for the Memve'ele Hydroelectric Power Station and its associated transmission and transformation project, marking the project's final acceptance and handover.

The Memve'ele Hydroelectric Power Station, constructed by POWERCHINA as an EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) contractor, is located on the main stem of the Ntem River in Cameroon's South Region. It is Cameroon's largest completed infrastructure project, with a total installed capacity of 211 megawatts. The project began construction in late 2012 and was completed in 2019.

The Memve'ele transmission and transformation project serves as an auxiliary power transmission project for the Memve'ele Hydroelectric Power Station. It involved the construction of a 225-kilovolt double-circuit line spanning 278 kilometers and the construction (and expansion) of three substations. Construction began in November 2015 and its warranty period ended on Nov 20, 2023, signaling the full completion of the transmission project and its operational launch.

As of Oct 24, the Memve'ele Hydroelectric Power Station has been in safe operation for 2,017 days. With a cumulative output of 3.39 billion kilowatt-hours, it significantly enhances the reliability of Cameroon's southern grid. It also strengthens the power supply capacity of the Yaoundé region, which is significant for the country's social and economic development.
