Employees celebrate the operation of the Gribo-Popoli Hydropower Plant.
With Unit 3 connected to the grid on Nov 7 – 30 days ahead of schedule, the Gribo-Popoli Hydropower Plant in Cote d'Ivoire, built by POWERCHINA, has entered commercial operation.
Located on the middle and lower reaches of the Sassandra River, the Gribo-Popoli Hydropower Plant is the third station in the development plan for the Sassandra River Basin. The plant is equipped with three axial-flow units, each with a capacity of 37.63 megawatts, for a total installed capacity of 112.9 MW and a reservoir capacity of 82 million cubic meters.
The project operates on a daily regulation basis and has an average annual output of 535 gigawatt-hours. Once completed, it will provide an additional 554 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy annually to Cote d'Ivoire. Since the commissioning of the three units, the project has provided 200 million kWh of clean energy, significantly enhancing the country's energy security and supporting economic and social development.
