The handover ceremony for the Iraq Demonstration Schools Project (Muthanna Province), built by POWERCHINA, took place on Nov 18 at the new campus of Muthanna Girls' Senior High School.
In his speech, Nadhim Nasser Hamidi, a representative from the General Secretariat for the Council of Ministers and director of the Department of National Projects and School Buildings, stated that this project is Iraq's first school construction initiative designed and built according to modern design, engineering, and construction standards.
The project includes designs for schools with 12, 18, and 24 classrooms to meet the needs of different regions. All schools are equipped with advanced laboratories, libraries, and network facilities. These schools will provide students with a more modern learning environment and improve teaching conditions for educators.
Ghazi Al-Zaidi, deputy speaker of the Muthanna Provincial Council, expressed gratitude to POWERCHINA for its significant project contributions.
The project in Muthanna Province includes 53 schools with a total construction area of 153,000 square meters. Of the 679 POWERCHINA-built schools in Iraq, the ones in Muthanna province are the first to be handed over.
