On Nov 29, POWERCHINA and Manila Electric Company (Meralco) officially signed the EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contract for the Philippines Terra 1,050 Megawatts Solar Project in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, which is part of the first-phase eastern section of the Terra Solar Project – Southeast Asia's largest photovoltaic project.

The signing marks a new breakthrough for POWERCHINA's sustainable development efforts in the international renewable energy market. Senior executives from both sides attended the ceremony.

In his speech, Chen Guanfu, Chairman of POWERCHINA International, expressed gratitude to Meralco for its long-standing trust and strong support for POWERCHINA, as well as for being one of its most important partners. He emphasized that the signing signifies a new milestone in the collaboration between the two companies.

Meralco Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan congratulated the parties on the contract signing and praised POWERCHINA's project execution capabilities and brand influence. Pangilinan stated that the new contract represents an important step in expanding cooperation between the two companies into new areas.

Located in Nueva Ecija Province, the project is designed to include a total installed capacity of 3.5 gigawatts of solar power and 4.5 gigawatt-hours of energy storage. POWERCHINA will be responsible for the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of the photovoltaic plant. Upon completion, it will directly reduce carbon emissions by over 1.23 million metric tons annually, making a significant contribution to global efforts to combat climate change.
